Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

One big reason to choose to live in Puerto Plata?

As an expat in Puerto Plata, you have access to more of the products you’re used to than anywhere else in the Caribbean.

Why?

First, with over 300,000 people, it’s the third largest city in the Dominican Republic.

Second, Puerto Plata has long been a place where foreigners come, not only to vacation, but to put down roots. There’s a large community of expats who live there.

And so there’s large demand for the type of products they have back home in the United States, Canada and Europe, including brand names.

Looking to immerse yourself in a new cultures & history?

If it’s history and culture you want, you’ll love Puerto Plata. Not far from the city, the first village in the New World, La Isabella, was founded in 1494.

Puerto Plata’s downtown core has been restored to its original Spanish colonial splendour, making it a great place to stroll and window shop.

The fortress of San Felipe looks out over the harbour. Built by Spain in the 16th Century as a base to defend the colony and guard shipping routes, it’s now home to historical artifacts from the city’s colonial era.
